When we think of 19th-century settlements, we often imagine sawmills in the picture. After all, wood was needed to build houses and give shape to the village. Several mills appeared in the second half of the 19th century in Saint-Narcisse-de-Beaurivage. Let us remember Joseph Taylor's water-powered mill. Since it depended on the whims of nature, it was understandable that it closed around 1880, following the opening of Hubert Paradis's mill, powered by a more reliable steam engine. The mill was acquired in 1914 by Samuel Caux, who ran it until his death in 1949. Progress is definitely more convenient!
