An old Native legend tells us that Mount Sir-Wilfrid is haunted by the Windigo, a creature from Algonquin Anishnaabeg mythology. Being either depicted as an evil being or as a protector of the land, the Windigo is far from friendly! This is why the mountain is known today as "Montagne du Diable", French for "Devil's Mountain". This second highest peak in the region allows for a number of activities, including mountain biking and hiking. Don't forget to stop at Windigo Falls, which offer a great view. You'll see that there's nothing scary about the mountain at all!
