

Two questions come to mind here : first, what's so extraordinary about this rapid? And Second, why is it called the Des Italiens Rapid, which translates as "the Italians' Rapid"? If you're new to whitewater canoeing, make sure you're accompanied by an instructor or experienced canoeists, as this two kilometers-long rapid is the second longest in the region. They are also used by some canoeing schools. As for the Italians, perhaps this rapid was what attracted them when they settled in Marchand Township.
